Homestead Exemption Audit

In accordance with Section 11.43(H-1), of the Texas Property Tax Code, the chief appraiser must review each residence homestead exemption at least once every five tax years. Exemption Qualifications:
  • The property owner must occupy the property as the owner's primary residence and the residence homestead exemption cannot be claimed by the property owner on any other property.
  • The property owner and spouse, if married, must have a VALID Texas Driver's License or Texas State ID with the physical address of the residence.
